High-fidelity eye modeling

Presentation

The MIMESIS team has been involved in the early stages of the HelpMeSee simulator (read more here) now developed by our start-up InSimo, SenseGraphics and Moog. We are now moving onto the field of retina surgery (read more here) which is a very important area for training in micro-surgery. In this context, we propose to improve our biomechanical eye model. In particular we would like to model the muscles controlling the eye motion and to model thin membranes that build up on the retina surface for certain pathologies. This involves real-time FEM simulations of the extraocular muscles and thin non-elastic membranes, as well as the simulation of the attachment of the membranes onto the retina.
