Outstanding Paper Award at the AE-CAI Workshop (MICCAI 2024)
October 10, 2024

Our work on data-driven endovascular navigation was presented at the Joint AE-CAI | CARE | OR 2.0 workshop at MICCAI 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco, where it was awarded the Outstanding Paper Award.

The paper, “FBG-Driven simulation for virtual augmentation of fluoroscopic images during endovascular interventions”, proposes a novel solution that enhances fluoroscopic 2D images in real-time by displaying virtual configurations of the catheter and guidewire. The approach involves a predictive simulation showing the resulting shape of the catheter after guidewire withdrawal, reducing the need for the clinician to perform this task manually. A user study reported an average intervention time reduction of 56% when using the system, resulting in lower X-ray exposure.
