Bio

I am currently part of the MIMESIS team, INRIA Strasbourg, as a PhD student, working on a needle insertion simulator with haptic feedback. Such a simulator is being developed for teaching and training purposes in the context of biopsies, or Radio-Frequency Ablation (RFA) of liver tumors.

At the end of my 3rd year at the engineering school Telecom Physique Strasbourg, with a specialization in biomedical technologies and a background in simulation and modeling, I joined the team for my M.Sc. internship. From October 2022, my work as a PhD student is a deeper exploration of what I started to do as an intern.

I mainly focus on contact problems, involved in needle-tissue interactions as well as collisions between organs. My goal is to improve the the accuracy of the contact models in order to increase the realism of the resulting haptic rendering and the overall simulation, while maintaining real-time characteristics of the simulation. Indeed, real-time computations are necessary to allow user interaction through the haptic interface, which aims at providing the user with force rendering resulting from the virtual needle insertion procedure.
